Tomb of jahangir

The Tomb of Jahangir is a notable historical monument in Lahore, Pakistan that has a rich history dating back to the early 17th century. The mausoleum was built by Emperor Jahangir's son, Shah Jahan, in the memory of his father who ruled the Mughal Empire from 1605 to 1627. The tomb is located in the city of Shahdara, on the banks of the Ravi River.

The tomb is made of white marble and is decorated with intricate carvings, inlaid tile work, and calligraphy. The central chamber of the tomb is adorned with a cenotaph, which is believed to be the actual resting place of Jahangir. The tomb also features a four-tiered platform, with a large dome on top and four smaller domes on the corners.

The tomb was originally surrounded by a beautiful garden, which was a popular spot for royal picnics and hunting expeditions. However, over time, much of the garden was destroyed and the tomb fell into disrepair. In the 19th century, the British colonial government in India restored the tomb and converted it into a public park.
